Well, that explains it.

This is one Theoblogian's response to an interview between NBC and Bode Miller aired right before the opening ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics. If you are a parent (or thinking of becoming one), you'll want to read this...especially if you've ever considered homeschooling.
File this one under, “He just needed to get it off his chest,” and then forgive me if you need to. It may not appeal to the theologian or the rest of the world, but I think it should. America’s bad boy ice-rider, Bode Miller, has taken a lot of flack for his insolence, incivility, and now add his sour-grapedness, “I could quit tomorrow and not have any regrets.” Note: that was before he competed in his final event for the pride of his country (he’s failed to medal in his first two attempts this year). NBC went out of their way to give America a reason to love Bode. On opening night they aired a rare interview with him in which he pouted and threw controlled tantrums and overall had a pretty poor showing. After the interview was finished, trying to make a final plea on his behalf the interviewer talked about the fact that he had a rough childhood, lived without electricity for much of it and finished with (in a condescending voice), “And he was homeschooled until the third grade.”
Sitting there, I could hardly believe it. Remember, the final argument is considered the strongest. NBC expects us to say, “Well, that explains it…he was homeschooled,” and cut him some slack. Okay, what merits this being on Theoblogian? Maybe nothing…but maybe this, that I believe the education of children has been given not to the government, but to parents. This has raised the overall temperature of my blood, and I plan to investigate a theology of education. There are some obvious passages (Deut 6:7, several of the proverbs concerning the teachings of your mother and father), but I imagine there are others. If you want to contribute relevant passages for or against my obvious leanings, feel free to drop them in the comments field.
